I can't wait to get back to the Galleon and Key West. I've stayed there a handful of times in the last five years and I understand the reasons people don't want to give up their week(s) at the resort. The location alone justifies giving it five stars, with gorgeous gulf views just steps from the historic seaport and blocks from Mallory Square and Duval Street. The perfect location - you're moments from the action, yet you have a quiet and tranquil retreat.
A few words about the resort: I gave the resort five stars for overall experience. It's not a five-star resort. I have stayed in many four- and five-diamond AAA-rated resorts, including Ritz-Carltons, so I have fairly high standards. That said, there's nothing lacking in the Galleon. The room furnishings, though dated, are comfortable enough (though I'd love to see new sofas in the living area), and I've always found them clean. And the 2-BR condos offer plenty of space. I've never been disappointed at the Galleon.
I've always found the lunch buffet adequate, as well. Depending on the day, hot dogs & burgers or BBQ chicken, baked beans, chips seem the standard offering. Nothing gourmet, but well worth a few bucks when you're satisfied spending the day lounging pool- or gulf-side.

I thought the place was old and nasty. I was told one thing and then untold, the lunch with the gang was terrible, 4 shrimp, dried out and rubbery, that was it, just 4 little shrimp for $6, I stated, I was still hungry and no one cared, the manager was not available. This place is way overpriced. I was disappointed the angle of the building and not a good view of the sunset unless you went to the roof. The room was nothing special and the TV's were old and little. The location was nice and I paid dearly for that. I will look elsewhere. Anyone want to buy my timeshare?

Just returned from a grand week at The Galleon. I had a beautiful 2 BR overlooking the pool and the water. The unit had everything you could ever need and the location is the best! Seldom had to drive. I would highly recommend this resort.

Stayed in united B53 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Units are nicely layed out, furnished well and clean. Pool area was well kept up and location was close to many restaurants and to the main street of Duvall. We highly recommend the resort. Staff was helpful and the resort is attended to. Parking was the only problem if you bring an automobile, however, you won't need it as everything is within walking distance.

I stayed Christmas week 2006. Location is perfect. Park your car here free and walk just about anywhere in Old Town. I stayed in a studio which is on the small side with no view, but it was clean and had a modest kitchen (no stove or oven, but good microwave and half fridge). Non-English speaking Staff offered clean towels and sheets almost every day, but no daily housekeeping service. The room had a safe that was big enough for my widescreen laptop. Wireless was available, but outrageously expensive and anemic , $60/wk. (Yachts in the Marina behind the building had wireless for $30/wk.) Outgoing phone calls are limited to 15mins before a 50cent/min surcharge so forget dialup internet. The Key Lime pie shop across the street has free wifi. Washer and dryer was available for $5/load. In spite of all the challenges, I would return here anytime. You just can't beat the location even if you have to overlook a few of their blemishes.

Just returned from this great resort. We were
there Dec. 16 thru Dec 23rd. Had a great time.
The resort was right in the middle of town.
You would never have to drive. We were
there for the lighted boat parade on the
marina where all the boats were decorated
in Christmas lights. A very nice place. Would
love to stay here again sometime.

Stayed June 24 - July 1, 2006. Units are large in size with all the extras. Location is the best in Key West. You can be in the mix of downtown or be at a quiet beach or pool. We watched the sunsets from our balcony. Oceanside bar with lounge chairs over the water is a beautiful place to unwind at the end of a day of diving, snorkling, sailing, etc. Would not stay anywhere else in Key West.

As many others have said, this is the place to stay in Key West. We had stayed at four or five other places on the island, discovered the Galleon, traded into and rented there a few times, loved it so much we now own seven weeks. While our son is still in school, we rent several of the weeks in November and December, two of the best months weather-wise in Key West. When you stay at the Galleon, and if you are boater, rent a center console at Key West Boat Rentals, and head out to Boca Grande, and all the island mangroves in-between, or on a calm day fish or snorkel the reefs on your own. It is truly the way to feel like a local, and enjoy the sweetest asset of Key West - its' water.

We have owned for 20 years and haven't missed a year because we love everything about the place. Great location on the harbor and yet close to the old town. It's a tropical paradise without having to leave the good old USA. Minutes to Mallory Square and great restaurants too. Parking is tight but everyone gets a spot. Rent a small car if you need one.

Best location in keys. Walking distance to boardwalk, restaraunts, sloppy joes, duval. Quality concrete structure, beach access, fishing and dive boats right there.
Nice fishing pier for guests.
Onsite parking can be a challenge.

This 5 Star Resort is situated in one of most beautiful areas of Key West. It has the Marina on one side, the Gulf on the other with a medium size beach and a great pool and steps to Simonton and Duval Streets. It is the Carribean Jewel of Florida. The condo units are beautifully decorated, roomy with great amenities. - owner since 1988

We own 9 weeks at this world famous international/marina resort. We have owned for 25 years, we spend two months out of the year there, although we LIVE IN FLORIDA!
The Galleon has the most eye popping views to compare to anywhere in the world. The only place in the U.S. where you feel the tropical flavor of some foreign tropical island. Drop your suitcase in your two bedroom/full kitchen and enjoy the conch way of living. Mallory Square, Duval Street, Cruise Ships all less than 5 min. walk. Bicycle around the island; tour the cruise ship Truman annex, park your car and walk. Galleon has it all.
This will be the best vacation you have ever had. You may even end up buying there at the resales, although they are hard to come by. I have a unit for rent B-31 Week 12 up for rent for 2006 now and the only reason we are renting it in March is because we stay there in Nov./Dec in our other units. We were going to buy a home in Key West but found the Galleon was the only place with the best views! See my unit under rental section B-31 week 12 Joanne Jerome. Additional information on unit upon request.

Wonderful resort, close to everything. Although the parking is tight, leave your car parked and you can walk anywhere. Really don't need a car. Can't find better place to stay in Key West. We love it!

Have been an owner for 2 years; just purchased another week. Best location in Key West -- is in walking distance to everything yet tucked away for some needed solitude. The front desk and service/cleaning crew could do a better job, but overall worth the price of admission.

The Galleon is the best of all possible worlds in Key West. Close enough to Duval Street and Mallory Square for easy enjoyment, but tucked away on the marina, for nice quiet nights. The service is always outstanding, and the owners association is constantly upgrading the units and the common facilities.

The best location; in the heart of Key West. Within walking distance of all activities. The weather (in early January) was fantastic, and the views are fabulous. After renting for the week, I decided to buy, and am looking forward to next year.

As they say: location, location, location. Right on the water. You can walk to any place in a matter of minutes. The deck and beach is screened from the street crowds.

We had an enjoyable and relaxing week with our children. Location is the key to this resort. I found that the flooring in the unit was very dirty even after washing the ceramic floor, thus indicating that the carpets were filthy. Parking is very tight, better off just leaving your vehicle parked and walking or renting scooters. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with a loft overlooking the marina and it was enjoyable sitting on the veranda and listening to music at night and the chatter of people at the restaurants in the Historic Seaport area.

Traded in here and ended up buying! This is the perfect location to be in Key West! Great location, private beach!
Units have recently been redecorated, most unit views are spectacular! Even the marina side with the boats and the Key West bight! Parking is very tight in the garage, rent a small car if you can of just keep the car parked for the week, you can practically walk to everything!

Nice, well-kept property. Walking distance to most 'places of interest'. Nice boardwalk, pool/beach area, and outdoor stairwell 'greenspaces' on site.
Parking was 'tight', the staff was 'cool' in demeanor, and while helpful, somewhat slow to respond to maintenance requests.
The upper 3 bedroom units facing the marina are spectacular. But, if you trade in, don't accept a 'lock-out' unit unless you enjoy 'hotel room with a kitchenette' vacationing.
